(512-1) Here they are...! the winning entries in Kaiser-Frazer's "Name the Car" contest! This mailer was sent out to announce the winners who were the ones who chose Henry J for the name. There were many more who picked that moniker, but a 25 word statement was also required as part of the entry and this was used to narrow the list down. Unusual was the top two winners were from Denver with prizes of $10,000 and $2500. When I first found this item I was surprised to see one of the 860 $25 winners was Gussie Allen of Longstreet, LA. I went through grade 5 in Longstreet and we had a 1948 Frazer Manhattan when we moved away to Texas in 1949. Gussie did not get her prize doubled as she did not elect to get an appraisal on her car from the dealer! I think she worked at the post office in Longstreet. As mailed, this folder measures about 5 1/2 x 3 1/2 and it opens fully to about 22 x 14 inches. I am showing two views: the first one shows folder opened out to show mailing address and folder title. The second one shows reverse of first one. When unfolded again, one finds ads for the 51 Frazer and Kaiser. Final unfold reveals winner list.
(512-2) Kaiser-Frazer presents Ameica's newest cars. The Henry J...most important new car in America. The 1951 Kaiser...Triumph of Anatomic Design. The Handcrafted 1951 Frazer...Pride of Willow Run. Folder measures 10 1/2 x 7 1/2 and opens out to 21 x 15 inches. Sepia and greentone with one page devoted to each of the three cars. The view shown is opened to 10 1/2 x 15 inches. I believe these came from factory folded to 10 1/2 x 7 1/2.
(512-3) This 20 page comic book was originated by Northwest K-F Motors in Minneapolis, MN. Northwest was a very active dealer-distributor for K-F. Later, the factory made these available to other dealers. Measures 7 1/4 x 10 1/8 inches. The story concerns Kay, brilliant young Martian scientist, who made a space trip to earth. Upon his return to Mars, he reports that about the only thing he was impressed with was the Kaiser auto! He rattles on for 8 pages or so. As he extolls virtues of the Kaiser, a fellow Martian accidently trips switch for a newly invented interplanetary image force transmitter and this sends a color image to the Jim Smith family watching a wrestling match in black and white on their TV in Folksville, USA. The Martians on the screen are in color and Kay's shapely lady is heard to say "...the 1951 Kaiser is a gorgeous automobile." Of course the Smiths rush down to their K-F dealer the next day and buy a new Kaiser! There is also a page each for Henry J and Frazer.
